Present Joys

“We thank the Lord of heaven and earth
who hath preserved us from our birth
for present joys, for blessings past,
and for the hope of heaven at last.”

What I did this week (1 nov 2013)

  • Started the week with a Thurber House client meeting on monday afternoon. It was nice and productive; we toured the house and learned about the organization’s programs.
  • Tuesday morning, spent my morning in jewelry sprung little swatches of knitting. I’m going to cast knitting in bronze!
  • Turned in 100 logos on tuesday afternoon in Mohr’s class; had a very productive crit. Too bad! Our teacher didn’t like what we brought and assigned 100 more logos for next tuesday. You have got to be kidding me!
  • Wednesday morning, I met my Brand and Market Development class once again in CCAD’s MindMarket for presentation day. The usual foolishness abounded, but we made it through safely. This marks the end of a long project about medication.
  • Had a nice lunch with Amanda on one of the picnic tables outside the library. After that, I raced to History of Cinema where we watched Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing. At least I completed a good chunk of knitting…
  • My jewelry teacher overslept on thursday morning and was late to class; most people left, but I stayed and casted my knit swatches.
  • After jewelry, I went to lunch with Dana at Portia’s Café for a belated birthday lunch. The food was good and an anonymous do-gooder paid for our meal. Can’t beat it with a stick.
  • Following lunch, I went back to school and changed into a really embarrassing outfit in time for my afternoon ad classes. It was a great, surreal afternoon. Mr. Mohr and various classmates brought sweet treats—I ate approximately 100 candy corns. After a short presentation by Theresa, the rest of senior ad was full of pure shenanigans. We took group photos in our halloween finery.
  • By the time Portfolio started at 3:30, only about ten people stuck around and I was experiencing a massive sugar rush. We had trouble concentrating while listening to great, loud music while trying to have a critique while still dressed in halloween costumes while still eating a bunch of sugary snacks. It was a glorious time.
  • Enjoyed a typically relaxed friday morning.

fuckyeahgiantpanda:

Little Tao Tao was born to his captive-bred mother Cao Cao last year. To prevent him from getting used to humans, since his birth staff have only ever approached him while wearing completely inconspicuous panda suits and have observed him and his mother from afar. As such they are hoping that he will adapt to life in the wild.

Since his birth Tao Tao has been learning all the behaviours pandas need in the wild, such as walking, climbing trees and looking for food. When he was six months old he and his mother were moved into a large mountainous area for more intensive wild habitat training. Tao Tao now weighs 25kg and is displaying wild panda habits, such as climbing trees and looking for food and water.
