Present Joys

What I did this week (7 mar 2014)

It was a short week because of sophomore review. In motion graphics on monday, I started a new project. One Show being all finished, everybody was a lot friendlier.

I spent most of tuesday and wednesday working on freelance projects at home. I also worked on drawing up final patterns for my Thesis sweaters. Wow! Graduation is approaching swiftly, and I’m not as far along with my sweater-making as I ought to be.

Thursday was a normal day. After a too-long crit during which nobody spoke, I used the rest of class time trying to make a successful resin cast (it didn’t work). La-Neka and I walked over to the fashion lab after jewelry, because I wanted to see her do a couple of things on the knitting machine. After that, we sat through a bunch of presentations in senior ad. I finished this very short week with history of 2-d: the teacher assigned a two-page paper, “due by may 1”; I went home and finished it that night.

What I did this week (8 mar 2013)

  • Registered for the fall 2013 semester monday morning at midnight. Wow.
  • Had a pretty laid-back week. Killed more time in monday morning’s package design. Uneventful as always.
  • Didn’t have any normal classes on tuesday or wednesday because of sophomore review, which, thankfully, I didn’t have anything to do with this year.
  • Instead of going to class on tuesday, I worked a long day at OhioHealth and took wednesday off for homework.
  • Had a very fun thursday. Split a cheese danish with Amanda that Jason bought us.
  • Checked out some library books and was called “one of our best patrons” by the school librarian. Rock’n’roll.
  • Spent lots of time talking to my bff Amanda on the phone.
  • Got unnecessarily upset about a dumb flyer a fellow student had posted all over campus. But that’s ok, because if I didn’t get unnecessarily upset, I wouldn’t be myself!
  • Visited my jewelry teacher thursday afternoon and had a very nice time catching up.
  • Drove straight from school to Riverside Hospital, where I art-directed a photoshoot for a colorectal cancer awareness ad campaign I’m working on with my internship. What a weird week.

What I did this week (8 mar 2012)

  • Drew portraits with Boryana and talked about basic frame.
  • Didn’t have any normal classes on tuesday or wednesday!
  • Got sophomore-reviewed by Matthew Mohr (who was great) and Steve Gabor (who wasn’t as great). Passed.
  • Wore my traffic-cone orange trousers and bonded with Mr. Aschenbrand, who I am growing to love.
  • Studied art history with Dana and Dorian in the Crane Café on wednesday. Prepared less than usual.
  • Took a perfunctory “liberal arts progress assessment”, which was a bureaucratic waste of time.
  • Enjoyed delightful sunny weather on wednesday and painfully rainy weather on thursday.
  • Watched clips from the 1961 A Raisin in the Sun film from YouTube instead of doing any actual classwork, causing me to question why I even showed up.
  • Took my second art history test, which was extremely fun.
  • Learned a fun fact about Mr. Burleigh, who grows cooler with every successive week.
  • Turned in my American lit midterm, which is seven pages long and full of things my teacher probably won’t agree with.
