Present Joys

“We thank the Lord of heaven and earth
who hath preserved us from our birth
for present joys, for blessings past,
and for the hope of heaven at last.”

What I did this week (20 sep 2013)

  • Started the week with Jewelry; watched a demo on investing; mixed plaster. Celebrated the day by wearing fun pants.
  • Watched classmates pitch campaign strategies all afternoon in tuesday’s Senior Ad class. Mohr gave us six minutes each but everybody went overtime and we accomplished very little.
  • Had a nice lunch with Amanda wednesday, then went to History of Cinema and watched Bicycle Thieves, an emotionally-manipulative Italian film from 1948.
  • Had my first experience casting metal on thursday morning in Jewelry. We were forced to wear gross, heavy leather things, but ended up with some cool stuff.
  • Walked to El Arepazo for thursday lunch with friend/former OhioHealth boss/brand-new CCAD teacher Josh Bodman.
  • Sat through more presentations in Senior Ad, then finished thursday with a three-hour logo-roughs critique in Portfolio. Lots of standing up, trying not keep my legs from falling asleep, making faces at friends across the table, and post-rationalizing other people’s ideas. Also: yelling.
  • Worked in class friday morning with Jason and Alix. We’ve got a big presentation in a week’s time.
