Present Joys

“We thank the Lord of heaven and earth
who hath preserved us from our birth
for present joys, for blessings past,
and for the hope of heaven at last.”

Jenny and Johnny play “Big Wave”. Though I’d prefer new material from Rilo Kiley, Jenny and Johnny’s album is pretty great. Her voice is so compelling.

This is a really interesting chart that Muffy Aldrich has put together showing the sliding quality scale of many popular preppy brands. One thing that particularly intrigues me is the way “quality” and “PR” are almost 100% inversely proportional. Most of the recognizable brands are on the decline and this is sad!

If anything, this chart makes me more excited about discovering new small brands making quality stuff and not worrying too much about established properties. That is, I think, the whole point of classic and permanent style.

THIS. Oh man these are the most beautiful clothes I’ve ever seen on film.
