Present Joys

This past saturday, my Bible study group made a lot of soup and grilled cheese sandwiches to feed some homeless people. The photograph doesn’t accurately show just how purple Karen’s face was after slaving over that hot cooktop.

• Was abandoned by my usual monday lunch friends. It ended up just being me and Sarah. Where were all of you?
• Got a donut from the very generous Michelle on tuesday morning. Perfect!
• Spent all week working on spreads in my portfolio. Had tons of trouble getting any work done in class.
• Spent 15 minutes during class finding pictures of Meryl Streep and printing them out. It was for a project, you guys.
• Spent more time during that same class to walk halfway across campus with Amanda to find our our jewelry teacher from last semester. She wasn’t there, so we wrote a big note on the chalkboard and went back to class.
• Tried working on draping homework in the fashion lab on thursday afternoon but had lots of trouble due to confusion and insufficient notes. This class is starting to get tough!
• Stayed up all night pretty much every night this week.

Oh, how time flies! My all-time favorite Mountain Goats concert bootleg is fifteen years old! Have you heard it? Highlights include:

• Pre-Coroner’s Gambit versions of We Were Patriots and Family Happiness.
• A really good performance of Tulsa Imperative, a deep cut which JD wrote and PPH’s old band DiskothiQ recorded.
• My favorite version of Orange Ball of Hate (and I’ve got fourteen versions to compare it with).
• A fantastic cover version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tell Me On a Sunday.
• Generally great audio quality (it’s a soundboard recording).
• Fun young-JD banter.
